Commercial Refrigeration FAQ’s

Monday, December 17th, 2012

Owning a commercial business is a big responsibility. When you run or operate a commercial kitchen you do not have the luxury of time on your side in the event of problems with your commercial refrigeration equipment. Getting to know your commercial refrigeration equipment a little better is a great way to ensure that you make all the right decisions about its use and the service you acquire for it. Contact  Astro Air Inc. today if you have any questions about how to better care for your commercial refrigeration equipment or to schedule an installation in Boynton Beach. Here are some commonly asked questions to get you started.

  • Can I handle my commercial refrigeration installation myself?

It is necessary that only a highly trained professional complete the installation of any commercial refrigeration equipment you may purchase. It is not as simple a matter as plugging in a new refrigerator in your household kitchen.

  • When should I schedule maintenance service?

If you have not had your commercial refrigeration equipment professionally maintained in the past year, now is the time. Regular maintenance is the only way to ensure the uninterrupted, efficient operation of your commercial refrigerators, freezers and ice machines.

  • At What Point Should I Schedule Repair Service?

One of the great benefits of scheduling regular maintenance service is that small, developing problems can be resolved early on. Not all problems will be discovered in this manner, though, and by the time you notice one it has probably been worsening for some time. No problem is too small or minor for professional repair service. Call as soon as one makes itself evident.

  • Why is My Ice Machine Underperforming?

There are a few reasons your ice machine may not produce enough ice. Don’t get caught off guard by a shortage. The filter may be dirty, or you may have a leak in the water line. Make sure that you pull the ice forward, as the automatic shut off sensor is usually towards the back. Contact a professional if the problem persists.

  • Can I Overfill My Commercial Freezer or Refrigerator?

Commercial refrigeration equipment is much more powerful than residential counterparts. Even so, overfilling them will affect performance and efficiency. If you consistently have storage issues, invest in a new unit.

What You Need to Know About Your Electric Furnace Installation

Monday, December 10th, 2012

Is it time to install a new furnace in your home? While there are many different types of electric furnaces on the market, the Boynton Beach furnace experts at Astro Air Inc. can walk you through the selection process. Once you choose a model that matches the needs of your home and your budget, we will install it for you with expert care.

Here are some things that will prepare you for the installation process.

Most electric furnaces are connected to a system of air ducts and vents to distribute the warm air to the living spaces of your home. The duct system will contain both return and supply vents. The return vents suck in cooler air to be redistributed as warm air once it is heated by the furnace. If you don’t already have ductwork in your home, then the installation process will include duct installation.

You might also want to install a new thermostat, since not all thermostats work with all heating systems. You need to make sure that you have a thermostat that will allow your furnace to run as efficiently as possible.

Electric furnace installation is a big job, especially in homes without existing ductwork, or in situations in which the ductwork needs to be replaced.  To ensure that you get comprehensive Boynton Beach electric  furnace installation services, call Astro Air Inc. today to set up a consultation!

A Heat Pump Repair You Don’t Know You Need

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

While we may not need to turn on our heating systems that often here in West Palm Beach, Florida, we don’t want it to fail when we need it. Additionally, because of the possible neglect that many of our heating systems experience, there could be added risks when we suddenly crank them on. At Astro Air Inc., we’ve been providing top quality heating services throughout the West Palm Beach area. We thought it would be helpful for our customers if we put together a few of the problems that are a little less obvious.

Heat Pumps: Clogged Condensate Pan

If you have a heat pump in your West Palm Beach home, you most likely got it because it could both heat and cool your home. This is a great option in Florida where we only seldom need heating. However, because you most likely run your air conditioning system a lot, there could be some problems when you switch over to heating. One of those problems is the condensate tray.

Heat pumps circulate a refrigerant through a series of coils to move heat in and out of your house. This process naturally creates condensation on the coils. In order to deal with that, a pan is placed under the coils to catch the condensation as it drips off the coils and drain it away. However, over time, the tray and the drain lines can clog. This is a common source of water damage in your home.

If you haven’t scheduled maintenance for the heating system in your home in West Palm Beach, it’s probably a good idea to do so. With regular maintenance, even the most subtle problems can be detected and repaired. Give Astro Air Inc. a call today!
